Obvious learnings from the letters to the seven churches are the warnings about the things that God hates to see in His people. But what struck more today was how much hope there is in these letters. To those who overcome, persevere and stay true to the end, these are the rewards that await them:
- The right to eat from the tree of life
- Access to the paradise of God
- They will not be hurt by the second death
- They will receive hidden manna
- They will receive a white stone with a new name on it that only they will know
- They’ll have authority over the nations
- They’ll receive the morning star
- They will get clothes of white
- They will remain in the book of life
- They will have protection from the coming hour of trial
- They will be a pillar in the temple of God
- They will have the name of God and His city written on them
- They will receive a new name
- They will have the right to sit with Jesus on His throne
I wonder if we will be reflective at all in our after-life about our previous life on Earth. Will there be a need to reflect? Or will there just be complete contentment? I have a hard time wrapping my mind around a life with no struggle or hardship. I bet we can look back and realize just how short our stay on Earth really was! What a chance to do some cool things in this life we have now; creating families, being a productive worker, strengthening relationships, talking about God to other people in our own unique way. Neat, I wonder what my new name will be...hopefully something awesome like...Ulysees, Arthur, or Clive! Haha. -Ty

Thanks Nikke.
ReplyDeleteTyson - I'm hoping for Clive for you!! ;-} I don't know we will so much reflect as simply understand what this current life was all about and what role it played in our place in eternity. You're right - we do get to do some great things in this life. Kinda makes you want to make the most of it, doesn't it?
